The team has evolved and grown considerably and we hope that the end product will meet your expectations. Our development road was bumpy (to say the least) - but ultimately what you’re playing is the vision and experience we set out to create and the adversity and challenges we’ve faced along the way has only improved the final game. This is a major milestone in our development of System Shock and once again we’d like to thank you for your continued patience and support while we diligently create the experience you originally backed all those years ago. We’ve got a very special update this month - as you are aware we’re releasing our final demo and opening pre-orders on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store which should be available as you read this. This is most likely attributable to our UV-breeding techniques.” Although we have successfully reversed the biological cycle, we have yet to obtain any color variations other than blue. These airborne lizards appear to be ancestors of our original test organism and have adopted bird-like wing structures, membrane-thin skin, and razor-sharp teeth and foreclaws. After several unsuccessful trials, we were able to reverse-breed reptilian mutations of the "Squamata" suborder. “ Specimen #124 - Attempting to uncover the lines of evolutionary heritage, we injected the mutagenic virus into unhatched lizard eggs and exposed them to hyper-oscillating UV radiation. And while the visuals understandably haven't aged well, understanding where games like BioShock and Deus Ex started is an important historical adventure worth your time. For this month's update, I thought we could celebrate the details that go into fleshing out Citadel Station. You can tune into that stream here at 9 a.m. Night Dive founder and CEO Stephen Kick will sit down with former Looking Glass Studios creative director Paul Neurath to discuss System Shock's place in gaming history. Update: If you're interested in learning more about System Shock and Night Dive's work bringing the classic back, there's a Twitch stream on September 23. It’s available for $10 (currently discounted to $8) on GoG. For nostalgia junkies, the Enhanced Edition also includes the original version. System Shock: Enhanced Edition has been updated by Night Dive Studios for high definition resolutions (up to 1024x768), includes mouse look support (not featured in the original), and fixes bugs from the original release. Its own sequel, the Deus Ex series, and later the BioShock franchise expanded and evolved this concept. Originally released in 1994, System Shock laid the groundwork for choice in video games. That changes today, as the enhanced edition of Irrational Games’ and Looking Glass Studios' groundbreaking title lands on GoG today. While System Shock 2 has been available for contemporary PC and Mac hardware for a number of years, its predecessor hadn’t been given the spit and polish treatment.
